Researchers at Kansas State University Investigate Zika Virus

The Biosecurity Research Institute at Kansas State University is conducting mosquito-based research on the Zika virus. KSU researcher, Dr. Stephen Higgs, says health experts are worried the disease may be transmitted by people who are unaware that they’re carrying the Zika virus.


Higgs says there are still many questions surrounding the virus that are not fully understood. Until a vaccine is developed, the experts at Kansas State say the best option for preventing infection is to avoid areas known to be affected by the virus.
