KC Police Caution Against New Year's Gunfire
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City police are reminding residents it's illegal to shoot firearms to celebrate the New Year's holiday or any other holiday. An 11-year-old Kansas City girl was killed by celebratory gunfire on July 4, 2011. Blair Shanahan-Lane died after she was hit by a shot fired into the air some distance away.

Pedestrian Killed After Train Accident
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A pedestrian has died after being struck by a train in Kansas City. Kansas City police said the accident happened Friday on tracks near Interstate 70. The victim's name and other details haven't been released while the fatality is investigated and family members are notified.

Wichita Police Investigate 3 Deaths
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Wichita police are investigating the apparent shooting deaths of three people whose bodies were found inside a home. Police say that the victims were two men and a woman, and they were found in the home yesterday afternoon. Police said all three victims appeared to have gunshot wounds. Police said a weapon was found at the scene, but it's unknown whether that weapon was used in the killings.

Leavenworth Police Seek Escaped Inmate
LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) — Authorities in northeast Kansas are searching for an escaped inmate. Twenty-nine-year-old Raheem Armstead walked away from the jail yesterday afternoon. A police advisory says Armstead has a history of fighting with and eluding police.
