New Kansas Statehouse Mural Celebrates Brown v. Board Ruling

Artist Michael Young adds the finishing touches to the Brown v. Board of Education Mural in his studio in Kansas City, Kansas. Young says it's a dream come true to paint the mural, which visitors can see on display at the Kansas Capitol for years to come. (Photo by Carla Eckels / KMUW Radio)

Sixty-four years ago this week (May 17th), the United States Supreme Court handed down its decision to end legal segregation in public schools.  That ruling was part of the Brown vs. Board of Education case.  A new mural has been unveiled at the Kansas Statehouse in Topeka to commemorate the landmark decision.  From affiliate station KMUW in Wichita, Carla Eckels reports.
