Fire - whether it's natural or man-made - has been part of the history of the Great Plains for thousands of years. Now, a new book examines that long-term relationship. We asked Commentator Rex Buchanan to take a look at Julie Courtwright's book, titled, "Prairie Fire: a Great Plains History."

Commentator Rex Buchanan is a regular contributor to Kansas Public Radio. He's also the Interim Director of the Kansas Geological Survey at the University of Kansas - and co-author of the book "Roadside Kansas."
