Myers Hotel Bar Brings "Curated Comfort" to Tonganoxie

Last month, the annual State of Women-Owned Businesses Report was released, showing that the number of U.S. businesses owned and operated by women has increased by nearly 3000 percent since 1972. The state of Kansas alone has an estimated 78,800 women-owned businesses, generating around 15 million dollars in 2017. KPR's Laura Lorson wanted to find out more about the trend.  Kate Frick and Stephanie "Stix" Marchesi opened the Myers Hotel Bar in Tonganoxie in 2015. Laura asked Kate about how they got started building their business.

Kate Frick and Stix Marchesi are the owners and operators of the Myers Hotel Bar in Tonganoxie. You can find out more about the bar at their Facebook page, or on Twitter, where they tweet as @bar_myers. To see more about the rise of women-owned businesses in Kansas and nationwide, click here.
