Mass Layoffs in KS Nearly Double in 2012

The unemployment rate in Kansas ticked down slightly from March to April. But the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports mass layoffs, where 50 or more employees are let go, was up compared to prior years.  Jaqueline Midkiff is a spokeswoman for the Regional office in Kansas City.  

All nine mass layoffs were made in private industry. Five of those were in the manufacturing sector.
