Mars Chocolate Announces $250 Million Topeka Plant

Candy maker Mars Chocolate announced today (WED) it will build a 250 million dollar factory in Topeka. The facility will manufacture M&M's and Snickers candy bars and create around 200 jobs when it comes online in 2013. Mike Wittman with Mars says the city of Topeka itself was one of the deciding factors in the decision to locate in Kansas.

The state and local government will provide more than 10 million dollars in incentives to Mars to help build the plant. Groundbreaking for the factory is slated for August.
