The Kansas Department of Corrections reports that two inmates are missing from the Winfield Correctional Facility. The two are identified as 52-year-old Robert Cook and 48-year-old Frank Crutchfield. According to spokesman Jan Lunsford, Cook was last seen driving a white 1984 Chevrolet box truck with a Tommy lift on the back. The truck is a state vehicle, but has no license tag. It's generally used to transport food from a kitchen to the Winfield inmate dining room. Cook was assigned as the driver transporting the food.
Cook has convictions for burglary and theft in Harvey, Cowley and Butler counties. He has also been convicted of aggravated indecent solicitation in Pratt County, and was convicted of aggravated escape in Sedgwick County in 1983. Crutchfield has been serving time for multiple burglaries, thefts and criminal damage to property in Sedgwick County. His record also lists an aggravated escape from custody conviction from 1983, in Shawnee County.
The men were reported missing at around 1:40 this (SAT) afternoon. Various law enforcement agencies are assisting Winfield Correctional Facility officers with their search. Officials are encouraging members of the community to report anyone matching the description of these offenders by calling 911.
