Lawrence's first Veterans Day parade in nearly 50 years takes place this Saturday.  KPR's J. Schafer spoke to the two volunteer organizers who first began planning the event nearly a year ago.  Kim Murphree is a civilian employee at the Lawrence Police Department.  Her friend, Saundra Wisdom, is a counselor who works with veterans in the Lawrence area.

That's Kim Murphree and Saundra Wisdom, two of the organizers of Lawrence's Veterans Day parade.  They were speaking with KPR's J. Schafer.

The Veterans Day parade begins at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon in downtown Lawrence.  For more information, visit the Lawrence Veterans Day Parade group on Facebook.
