KU Aerospace Students Design Next Gen Space Station; Why Their Plan is Better than Yours!

"ARTEMIS" is the name of this next generation space station, designed by KU aerospace engineering students, as part of a world-wide design competition. Team KU, known as the Spacehawks, has made it to the final round of three schools who are competing for the top prize in the international competition. NASA scientists and engineers are now reviewing and judging the three remaining design entries.

These KU aerospace engineering students, known as the "Spacehawks," designed a next generation space station as part of a worldwide contest. Their design has made it to the final round and soon, NASA scientists will judge whether the KU concept gets 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in the contest.

Aerospace engineering students at the University of Kansas are competing against other schools around the world in a space-age competition. Their mission? Design the next international space station. Team KU, known as the Spacehawks, has already earned a spot in the finals of the design competition with a space station they call "ARTEMIS." KPR's J. Schafer spoke with Dr. Ron Barrett-Gonzalez, KU professor of aerospace engineering, about his students and their project.
