KU Aerospace Students Design Next Gen Space Station; Why Their Plan is Better than Yours!

Aerospace engineering students at the University of Kansas are competing against other schools around the world in a space-age competition. Their mission? Design the next international space station. Team KU, known as the Spacehawks, has already earned a spot in the finals of the design competition with a space station they call "ARTEMIS." KPR's J. Schafer spoke with Dr. Ron Barrett-Gonzalez, KU professor of aerospace engineering, about his students and their project.  


That's Dr. Ron Barret-Gonzalez, KU professor of aerospace engineering. He was speaking with KPR's J. Schafer. The KU students, the Spacehawks, will find out June 23 whether their design for a new space station wins 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize in this international competition.

KU Students Design Next Gen Space Station

Aerospace engineering students at the University of Kansas have made it to the finals of an international design competition. Their mission? Come up with the blueprints for a new space station. KPR's J. Schafer reports.


J. Schafer is the News Director of Kansas Public Radio. He’s also the Managing Editor of the Kansas Public Radio Network, which provides news and information to other public radio stations in Kansas and Missouri.
