KU Aerospace Students Set Another Record, Capture 3 Top Awards
Aerospace engineering students at the University of Kansas have done something that's never been done before. They captured three First Place awards at the International Aerospace Design Competitions. The worldwide contest is sponsored by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, or the A-I-Double-A. KU Professor Ron Barrett-Gonzalez says his students took top honors in three categories: jet engine design, spacecraft design and aircraft design.
This year, two dozen students from the KU Schools of Engineering and Architecture joined forces to take home the top honors, beating out competition from around the world.
