KS Student Takes Third Place in National Competition

A Kansas student has placed third in the National Geographic Bee finals in Washington, D-C. Stefan Petrovic (steh-FAHN PET-roh-vitch) is a seventh-grader from South Junior High in Lawrence. He says getting ready for the competition, which tests world geographic knowledge, was a long process that required several different techniques:

Stefan's third-place prizes include a $10,000 college scholarship and $500 in cash. He hasn't decided what to do with the money yet, but he said that he's very interested in planning a trip to central Asia.
