Week of April 17, 2022: We celebrate National Poetry Month with U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, from her February 23rd virtual event sponsored by Humanities Kansas, the Lawrence Public Library, and Haskell Indian Nations University. We also visit the Tonganoxie Historical Society and Museum, currently premiering a new traveling exhibit, "Living Sovereignty: Sustaining Indigenous Autonomy in 'Indian Territory.'"

Note: Kansas Public Radio does not have permission to make Joy Harjo's remarks available on demand, so be sure to tune in to this week's program:

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition Saturday, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and To the Best of Our Knowledge. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
