KPR Presents: Susan Orlean, The Library Book

Week of September 30, 2021: Best-selling author Susan Orlean explores books, reading, and the mystery behind the 1986 fire that shut down the Los Angeles Public Library for seven years in "The Library Book." On this week's KPR Presents, Orlean joins Kaye McIntyre for a preview of her upcoming talk this Sunday, October 3, at Lawrence's Liberty Hall, sponsored by the Lawrence Public Library. Also, the "Voices from the Big First: 1961-1968" exhibit at the Dole Institute of Politics closes at the end of October. Associate Director Audrey Coleman and historian/curator Virgil Dean talk to Kaye McIntyre about the political issues on the minds of Kansans as Bob Dole began his congressional career.

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition Saturday, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and To the Best of Our Knowledge. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
