Week of May 3, 2020: A look at the work and craft behind presidents' words. Dr. Craig Smith was a speechwriter for President Gerald Ford and a consulting speechwriter for President George H.W. Bush, and is the author of "Confessions of a Presidential Speechwriter." He spoke at the Dole Institute of Politics' annual Presidential Lecture Series on February 11, 2020.
