KPR - Celebrating 70 Years of Service

Kansas Public Radio is celebrating 70 years of service. Help us celebrate by making a pledge.

KPR began broadcasting as KANU FM on September 15, 1952. KANU was the first non-commercial radio station in the U.S. to broadcast in stereo.

Seventy years later, we're still doing that. But we've grown in size. Kansas Public Radio now has transmitters and translators scattered across eastern Kansas, bringing news, music, information and entertainment to as many listeners as possible.

If you are one of the listeners we serve every day, please help us continue our efforts by making a pledge. Thanks!

J. Schafer is the News Director of Kansas Public Radio. He’s also the Managing Editor of the Kansas Public Radio Network, which provides news and information to other public radio stations in Kansas and Missouri.
