KPR Keeps a Watchful Eye on Kansas State Government

Since 1952, Kansas Public Radio has been covering Kansas news and bringing great classical and jazz music to the people of eastern Kansas. Every weekday, KPR provides eight solid hours of news and information to listeners via NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered. And on both of these network news magazine, you'll hear Kansas news, including coverage of the Kansas Statehouse. In addition, our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents (with host Kaye McIntyre), covers a wide range of news events and issues and features lectures, panel discussions and interviews with the people who shape our world.

KPR has been covering state government, full-time, for half a century. No other Kansas-based radio or TV station operates a full-time, year-round Statehouse Bureau. We do. KPR (and formerly KANU FM) has provided a dedicated reporter for the Kansas Statehouse since the 1970s. Our current man in Topeka (and we've had both men and women covering the Statehouse) is Stephen Koranda. He works with our other reporting partners, including the Kansas News Service, to report on the Legislature, Supreme Court, governor, etc.

Who makes all this coverage possible? You do!

The single largest source of KPR's financial support comes from the people who listen - people just like you. If you would like to support our efforts, please contribute today.
