Kansas Wireless Taxes 10th Highest in the Nation

The state of Kansas currently has a 19 percent tax on cell phone and wireless service. That's the tenth-highest rate in the nation. Scott Mackey is an economist who's been studying those tax rates for a consulting firm called KSE Partners.

The states with the lowest taxes on wireless service are Nevada and Oregon...where residents pay closer to 7 percent. But Mackey says legislation is pending in Congress to make cell phone taxes more equitable across the country.
