Every January, crews from the Kansas Department of Agriculture and the Kansas Geological Survey fan out across western Kansas to measure ground water levels in more than 1,000 wells. Commentator Rex Buchanan has taken part in this effort for years, and this winter was no exception.

Commentator Rex Buchanan is the interim director of the Kansas Geological Survey at the University of Kansas and a regular contributor to Kansas Public Radio.
