Kansas Ulility Regulators Approve Westar-Great Plains Merger

The two largest electric utilities in Kansas are merging.  Westar Energy and Great Plains Energy -- the parent company of K-C-P-and-L -- got the final approvals they needed from state regulators in Kansas and Missouri yesterday (THUR). They’re forming a $14-billion dollar company with one-point-six million customers. Kansas News Service reporter Brian Grimmett discussed the details with editor Amy Jeffries.
