Kansas lawmakers are contemplating higher registration fees for vehicles that tend to kick in less or nothing for road upkeep through the gas tax. As Jim McLean of the Kansas News Service reports, the bill is part of a long-term effort to stabilize funding for the state’s transportation agency.
Under the bill, fees for hybrid vehicles would increase to $75 from an average of $35. Fees on electric vehicles would climb from the present average of $35 to $150.
