Even states opposed to expanding Medicaid under Obamacare are beginning to reconsider. That’s true for Kansas, where the Republican-dominated Legislature is borrowing elements from plans crafted by conservative governors in other states. Dan Margolies, with Heartland Health Monitor, spoke to Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell (BUR-well) about the agency’s willingness to approve such plans.

Heartland Health Monitor is a collaboration among KCUR Public Radio, KCPT Public Television, the KHI News Service and Kansas Public Radio. The reporting project focuses on health issues and their impact in Kansas and Missouri. Whether breaking news or in-depth features, Heartland Health Monitor strives to bring listeners and readers timely, accurate and comprehensive coverage of a topic that leaves no one untouched.
