GOP State Senator Bollier Punished for Endorsing Democrats

Republican state Senator Barbara Bollier has been removed as vice chair of the Public Health and Welfare Committee for endorsing Democrats in state and federal races.
Republican state Senator Barbara Bollier has been removed as vice chair of the Public Health and Welfare Committee for endorsing Democrats in state and federal races.

The punishment was swift for a Republican lawmaker in Kansas who endorsed Democrats running for office. Republican State Senator Barbara Bollier crossed party lines to endorse fellow state Senator Laura Kelly, a Democrat, in the governor’s race. Bollier also endorsed one of the six Democrats trying to unseat Kansas Republican Congressman Kevin Yoder. For the Kansas News Service, Sam Zeff reports.

Earlier this week, Senator Bollier said conservatives sent her a clear message: they don’t want her in the Republican party anymore. Bollier indicated she may be ready to leave the GOP.
