Construction of South Lawrence Trafficway Can Move Forward Following Federal Court Ruling

A court ruling issued this (TUE) morning means construction can continue on the controversial South Lawrence Trafficway. The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld an earlier court decision, which affirmed that the eastern leg of the trafficway could be built, along the route proposed by the Kansas Department of Transportation. Josh Powers is a spokesman for KDOT.

The SLT has been a contentious issue for the past 30 years. But KDOT officials say they're confident that construction will begin in the fall of next year to complete the trafficway.
