City of Lawrence Hires New Arts & Culture Director

The City of Lawrence has a new Arts and Culture Director.  Porter Arneill (are-NEEL) has been selected for the job.  He  currently holds a similar position in Kansas City, Missouri and previously worked as director of public art and education in St. Louis.  Lawrence Assistant City Manager Diane Stoddard says Arneill brings a wealth of experience to the new position.  


Arneill starts his new job in Lawrence next month at a salary of $80,000 a year.  In addition to being an arts administrator, Arneill is an artist himself; a sculptor.

Lawrence Hires New Arts & Culture Director

Lawrence has hired a new director of arts and culture.  The city announced today (WED) that Porter Arneill (are-NEEL) has accepted the position.  He's currently the Public Art Administrator in Kansas City, Missouri.  Diane Stoddard, the assistant city manager in Lawrence, says Arneill will oversee all cultural planning efforts in Lawrence, including the city's involvement in the 9th Street Corridor Project.


Arneill begins his new job in May, at an annual salary of $80,000.
