Kansas Governor Sam Brownback is proposing changes to the state’s mental health system in the wake of the Connecticut school shootings. The governor wants to provide more intensive case management for mentally ill persons who resist treatment until a crisis forces them into a mental hospital or prison. Jim McLean of the KHI News Service has more.

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback is calling for strengthening the state’s mental health system. As Elana  Gordon reports, he hopes to do this by stabilizing state mental health funding and directing it towards improved responses to people in crisis.
