Blizzard Hits State / Southeast KS Hardest Hit

Fifty-three counties in eastern Kansas are under a state of emergency due to the massive winter storm. Major General Lee Tafanelli (TAFF-uh-NELL-ee), the state's Director of Emergency Management, says heavy snow and strong winds are cutting visibility and creating dangerous driving conditions.

State officials are urging people to stay indoors today (TUE) and avoid driving if at all possible. Blizzard warnings and winter storm warnings remain in effect for eastern Kansas until 6am tomorrow (TUE).
