There could be some traffic tie-ups on Topeka Boulevard this (WED) afternoon. Sharon Watson with the Kansas Adjutant General's Department says a KC-135E Stratotanker will be moving from the 190th Air Refueling Wing at Forbes Field to its new home at the Museum of the Kansas National Guard near Heartland Park.

Watson warned that the tanker will take up all four lanes of Topeka Boulevard, and that traffic will be affected. The move is scheduled to begin around 4 o'clock, and is expected to take approximately four hours.

Unusual Sight Expected on Topeka Boulevard

Here's something you won't see every day in the Capital City: a really big airplane, traveling down Topeka Boulevard. Sharon Watson with the Kansas Adjutant General's Department says a KC-135E Stratotanker that was used for about 30 years in overseas military operations is being retired from service....and will be taking one last trip this afternoon.

Watson says the moving operation will begin at around 4 pm. It's expected that it will take approximately four hours to move the plane to the museum from the 190th Air Refueling Wing at Forbes Field.
