When Water Is More Valuable than Crops, Farms Can’t Compete with Thirsty Cities

Few things are more valuable to a farmer than water. In the arid West, that can mean competing with fast-growing cities for water rights. Farm families are increasingly under pressure to sell their water, cashing in their water rights in exchange for millions of dollars at high stakes auctions.
