Go Ape with Cinema a Go-Go on November 20!

Virtual Cinema a Go-Go is back  Friday, November 20, 7 p.m. You're invited to "go ape" at the next Virtual Cinema a Go-Go when we'll present another line-up of incredibly strange movies:  The Gorilla (1939) and  Bride of the Gorilla (1951).

This event is free; all we need is your name and email address in this web form, and you will get the exclusive log-in information for the event. This week KPR is giving away a bag of Z's Divine Espresso whole coffee beans! Bobbi will post the link to the giveaway in the chat during the event. You must be present to win.

The Gorilla stars the Ritz Brothers, rivals to the Marx Brothers in the '30s, as a trio of inept private investigators on the trail of a mystery killer known as the Gorilla. With Bela Lugosi and Lionel Atwill in the cast, this one's got all the ingredients - a dark and stormy night, mysterious passageways and a creepy butler played by Bela Lugosi.

The bottom half of our double bill is Bride of the Gorilla with a pre- Perry Mason Raymond Burr as a surly plantation manager who is cursed to turn into a gorilla at night. Lon Chaney Jr. is along for the ride, this time playing a friendly police commissioner. Bride of the Gorilla was written and directed by Curt Siodmak, who penned such classic horror films as The Wolf Man and Son of Dracula

This event is  free of charge...but we welcome contributions to support  Retro Cocktail Hour and all KPR programming by clicking  here. If you have any questions, reach out to Bobbi at  bwashechek@ku.edu.

This event requires access to a zoom account. You can download zoom. When you get to the zoom download page, you will select "Zoom client for meetings." Once you have that downloaded, open the app and create your zoom account - that way you'll be ready to go for the movie Friday, November 20!

Save the date for the next Virtual Cinema Night on December 18.
