Think and Drink: An Evening with Sonia Nazario

Date:

Thursday, October 4, 2018 - 18:30

Location:

Jack Reardon Convention Center, 520 Minnesota Ave, Kansas City, KS 66101

Description: Join Humanities Kansas for a Think & Drink event: "Telling Readers the Truth Means Being an Advocate, Too," with Sonia Nazario. Sonia Nazario's ride through Mexico atop the "train of death" retraced the route of Enrique, a Honduran teen who traveled by himself in search of his mom living in the U.S. His journey became the subject of her Pulitzer Prize-winning series for the Los Angeles Times and national bestseller, Enrique's Journey. Join Kansas native Nazario as she shares her insights as a journalist reporting on immigration. Presentation with bilingual discussion. Book signing follows the event. What is a "Think & Drink" event? It's a fun, thought provoking event that brings people together for a conversation about important topics with snacks and drinks. Free admission. Cash bar opens at 6:00pm. This event is part of the Latino Stories of Kansas/Historias Latinas de Kansas initiative. Learn more at humanitieskansas.org We thank the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for their generous support and the Pulitzer Prizes for their partnership. humanitieskansas.org Submitted by: Tracy Quillin Humanities Kansas
