Free Screening of "The Guardians" Movie

Date:

Thursday, October 11, 2018 - 17:30

Location:

The Spencer Museum of Art

Description: Please Join Monarch Watch and the Spencer Museum of Art, Thursday, Oct 11 at 5:30 for a free screening of “The Guardians.” This movie is in Spanish with English subtitles. Description: An indigenous community in Mexico confronts internal divisions and illegal loggers in order to recover the ancient forest they nearly destroyed. Like the millions of monarchs that also call this forest home, their survival depends on it. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Dr. Orley "Chip" Taylor, director of Monarch Watch. The exhibits at the Spencer will be open until 8 PM. On display now: Larry Schwarm: Kansas Farmers. The Ties that Bond: Haiti, the United States, and the Art of Ulrick Jean-Pierre in Comparative Perspective. Passage by Mohau Modisakeng, a three-channel video installation that meditates on slavery's dismemberment of African identity and its enduring erasure of personal histories.
