The Case for Free-Range Parenting

Date:

Tuesday, September 25, 2018 - 18:00

Location:

Hudson Auditorium Johnson County Community College

Description: "Our children are in constant danger from kidnapping, germs, grades, flashers, frustration, failure, baby snatchers, bugs, bullies, men, sleepovers, and the perils of a non-organic grape." Or, so says a small army of "experts" and government policy makers. But what happened to the childhood that many of us remember? Of visiting friends, riding bikes, and coming home before the streetlamps come on? Join Kansas Policy Institute and The Policy Circle for a discussion on how fostering self-sufficiency, independence, and decision-making in young children lead to a freer and safer society. The "World's Worst Mom", Lenore Skenazy, will lead a hilarious and thoughtful discussion about the impact of helicopter parenting - and it's unfortunate policy cousin, helicopter governance. Don't let this opportunity to learn, laugh, connect with other parents, and to give yourself a break from worry pass you by. Submitted by: Judi Willard The Policy Circle
