Local heart transplant recipient Merle Zuel is raising funds to support pre- or post-op heart transplant recipients in the community by hosting the annual MerleJam Benefit Concert. Diagnosed with a defective heart valve at age 10, Zuel fought his progressively worsening heart failure for eleven years before being activated for transplant. Now a tireless advocate for organ donation, Zuel hosts this annual fundraising event in Kansas City as a way to raise public awareness and support those in need within the community.
The MerleJam Benefit Concert will take place on May 1st and 2nd at the Knucklehead Saloon (2715 Rochester St.) and will feature local live music, including Los Lobos, Kris Lager Band, and many others.
