Again this summer, KPR is thrilled to showcase the most memorable performances of the 2018 BBC Proms, the UK’s annual celebration of classical music from London’s Royal Albert Hall. Join us for 10 weeks of outstanding performances, including concerts by the BBC Symphony, the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the Minnesota Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony, among others. Broadcasts begin Friday, July 27, at 1 p.m., and will continue every Friday afternoon through September 28.
Among the highlights of this year's Proms - Gustav Holst's The Planets, performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra (July 27); Beethoven's "Emperor" Concert with soloist Paul Lewis joined by the BBC Philharmonic (August 24); Joshua Bell as both conductor and soloist in Camille Saint-Säens' Violin Concerto No. 3; plus the raucous Last Night of the Proms, featuring a bouquet of British music by Sir Edward Elgar, Hubert Parry, John Stanford and more (September 28).
