Description: Vote No—And Understand Why You're Doing It *This event is free and open to the public. Attendance at in-person Raven events requires face masks and proof of vaccination against Covid-19.* There is a proposed amendment to the Kansas Constitution that, if passed, would remove the secure right to an abortion for uterus-havers throughout the state. The amendment is one part of a terrifying national movement to reverse the reproductive rights secured by Roe v. Wade—but it’s a reversal that’s been decades in the making. On July 30 at 7 p.m., the Raven will host a conversation between Nicole Perry and Melinda Lavon on the past and present story of reproductive rights and sexual justice (or lack thereof) in Kansas. Nicole Perry is the author of "Policing Sex in the Sunflower State: The Story of the Kansas State Industrial Farm for Women," and Melinda Lavon is a midwife and organizer with Vote NO Kansas. Join us for this discussion and join us in voting NO to protect choice and access to healthcare in Kansas. Learn more about the event and order copies of "Policing Sex in the Sunflower State" here: Submitted by: Wulfe Wulfemeyer Raven Book Store
