Back by popular demand, Kansas Public Radio is ready to host our 2nd Annual KPR Mug Design Contest! KPR is looking for your unique design to place on the 2020 KPR Membership Mug that we will give out to members of KPR at our Ice Cream Social at Maceli's in downtown Lawrence on June 18, 2020.*

If you love public radio, then we want you to contribute your design! One design will be featured on the 2020 KPR coffee mugs. The winner will receive a $100 gift certificate from Downtown Lawrence, Inc., free tickets to upcoming KPR events for the year, an Amazon Alexa, and two of the mugs with your design printed on them. The runner-up will receive a $25 Raven Book Store gift certificate, a $25 Burger Stand gift card, and free tickets to KPR events for the year.

Your design needs to emphasize either Kansas, Community Connections, Radio, or all three. It must also contain the words Kansas Public Radio, KPR, or our actual logo which is downloadable below. The design needs to be 8 1/4" W x 3 3/4" H, you are allowed a full color scheme, and it must be submitted as a vector PDF.

Please submit your final design by Friday, March 6, 2020, 11:59 p.m. (Central) with your name, phone number, and email address to Bobbi Washechek at bwashechek@ku.edu.

The first round of judging will begin March 9-10, 2020, and the online judging will begin March 11-16, ending at 11:59 p.m. We will announce the winner and the runner up the week of March 23.

By participating in this contest, both winner and participants grant Kansas Public Radio permission to use their names and designs. The winner of the contest will waive any rights to their design. The design must be your own work and must not contain any copyrighted materials.

We look forward to seeing all of your unique and original designs! Please feel free to reach out to bwashechek@ku.edu with any questions regarding the competition.

Description: To whomever it may concern at KPR, We personally would like to invite you to join us for our next event…an opening reception for "Symbiosis," a solo exhibition by Kansas City ceramicist, Rachel Hubbard Kline. Below please find our latest press release. Please call or e-mail us with questions or comments. -------------------------------------- Cerbera Gallery's solo exhibition by Rachel Hubbard Kline seeks "Symbiosis" in the relationship of surfaces to forms and addresses the hierarchy of importance between the form and the image or decoration. Based in Kansas City, Rachel Hubbard Kline’s work explores the wistfulness of personal connections to historical domestic objects and material culture. Objects both functional and ornate, factor into the banality and mundane of daily life. As the current political and social climate continues to shift, Hubbard Kline seeks to compare past and present means of production for goods and labor. -------------------------------------- Exhibition Date:: March 6 – March 28, 2020 Location: Cerbera Gallery 2011 Baltimore Ave, Kansas City, MO 64108 Collector’s Reception: THU, March 5, 6-8pm [Please R.S.V.P.] Opening Reception: FRI, March 6, 5-9pm Closing Reception: FRI, March 27, 5-7pm Phone: +1-844-202-9303 E-Mail: info@cerberagallery.com Event URL: https://cerberagallery.com/cerbera-gallery-presents-symbiosis-by-rachel-... Description: IN THE MOOD celebrates America’s Greatest Generation through the music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Erskine Hawkins, The Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra and other idols of the 1940s. IN THE MOOD takes a look at America’s Swing Era, the last time when everyone listened and danced to the same style of music. It recreates defining moments from the 1930s/1940s — from the happy-go-lucky era before WWII – to the start of the war when thousands of our youth were going abroad to defend our freedoms — and longing for the end of the war when loved ones would be reunited. The famous LIFE MAGAZINE picture “The Kiss” by Alfred Eisenstaedt epitomized such a moment. The music arrangements of these American songs evoke powerful emotions even in people who were born decades after WWII. Swing Music inspired America with a vision for the future filled with hope, promise and prosperity. This music moved the Nation’s SPIRIT and helped to sustain the nation’s morale during World War II, arguably the pivotal event of the 20th Century.
