Description: Help us celebrate 100 years of scouting! Lawrence Boy Scout Troop 53 is hosting its Centennial Chili Feed, February 22nd, from 11 am- 7 pm at First United Methodist Church, 946 Vermont, Lawrence. Choice of chili, vegetable soup or chili dogs with dessert and drink included. $6.00 per person. Tickets available at the door. Description: Soprano Lara Semetko-Brooks is the featured performer in "Songs We Love" at the Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. She will be singing selections by Rogers, Porter, Simon, Sondheim and Guettel. The recital is a part of the Sandzén Gallery's 2019-20 chamber music series. Lara Semetko-Brooks is a soprano known for her unforgettable quality on the stage and community outreach – seeking opportunities to introduce, educate, and perform the works of various composers, specifically new American music. Semetko-Brooks creates concerts to promote and educate audiences on works that are not typical from the standard classical repertoire. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Studies and her Master of Music in Classical Vocal Performance & Literature from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and her Bachelor of Music Education & Bachelor of Music from Central Michigan University. Description: The Medical Arts Symphony of Kansas City, Steve Lewis conductor, will present their annual Winter concert featuring vocalist Stephanie Meyer. The program will include: Bernstein - West Side Story Excerpts, Wagner - Rienzi Overture, Bizet - Carmen Suite #1, My Fair Lady Excerpts, Mozart - “O zittre nicht, mein lieber Sohn” (Die Zauberflote), Donizetti - “Chacun le sait” (La Fille Du Regiment). The orchestra is made up of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, healthcare students, as well as other volunteer musicians from the Kansas City area.
