Q: Where, in Kansas, will you find a building called the "Skyscraper of the Plains?"

A: Ness City

The “Skyscraper of the Plains” is the former Ness County Bank building in Ness City. This beautiful, four-story, stone structure was completed in 1890. It was once described as the finest structure west of Topeka. Today, it’s still pretty fine. The restored and renovated building now houses a number of businesses, including the local chamber of commerce.
