Norcatur was founded in 1885. The town was named for its location near the border between Norton and Decatur counties in northwest Kansas. Even by Kansas standards, Norcatur is a tiny town. Population 150. Despite its small size, Norcatur boasts quite a few businesses. According to the town's website, Norcatur has a bank, post office, service station, cafe, elevator, library, museum, local volunteer fire department, convenience store and high-speed broadband Internet service! According to its website, this small, quiet community is just 20 minutes away from doctors, groceries, shopping, theaters, swimming pools, bowling alleys and golf courses in either direction, Norton to the east or Oberlin to the west. So, make plans to visit Norcatur today and brag to your friends that you once stopped midway between Norton and Decatur counties!
