Lawrence Opera Theatre announces their 6th Summer Festival season with performances August 13-16 in conjunction with Theatre Lawrence. They stopped by KPR's LIVE Studio today to give us a preview. Tune in during the 6 o'clock hour tonight to hear what they have in store.
The opera company’s 2015 season is entitled “LOTs of LOL (Love, Obsession, and Laughter),” which characterizes its general tone. This year, the festival will culminate in a full production of the ultimate story of love and obsession, Bizet's dramatic and well-loved "Carmen."
Thursday, August 13 - "United States of Opera" A major scenes program celebrating American operas and operetta, 7:30 p.m.
Friday, August 14 & 16 - "La Damnation de Carmen" A new and exciting production which explores the entire emotional experience. Additionally, during the intermission of Carmen, "Cabaret Interludes" featuring their high school young artists, 7:30 p.m./2:30 p.m.
