Fun & Games - August 19, 2016

Q: If you ever lose your marbles, don’t worry. You can get more. What’s the name of the company in eastern Kansas that makes marbles – and where is it located?

A: Moon Marble Company in Bonner Springs

Started by artisan Bruce Breslow and Lynda Sproules, the Moon Marble Company in Bonner Springs has been making marbles since 1997. The company also stocks a variety of machine-made marbles as well as many old-fashioned toys, games and other items. In the summertime, the company holds marble-making demonstrations for the public six days a week (Monday through Saturday), but be sure to call ahead or visit the website.

The Moon Marble Company holds a big marble show the first weekend in March. “Marble Crazy” is a glassworking artist show featuring more than 20 artists from across the country. Each artist demonstrates his or her own marble-making techniques over the course of two days (Friday and Saturday). The show attracts marble-lovers from all over the world.

Moon Marble Company has had visitors from all 50 states and a number of countries. So, if you’ve lost your marbles or are just looking for some new ones, check out the Moon Marble Company in Bonner Springs.

Fun Factoid: Bumble-Bees, Cub Scouts and Puries are all different types of marbles. Bumble-Bees are yellow, Cub Scouts are blue and Puries are translucent. Marbles also range in size, from Peewees to Toebreakers.
