Q:  Born in Fontana and raised in Pretty Prairie, this KU graduate
eventually became the editor of the Saturday Evening Post AND
Reader’s Digest. What’s his name?


A:  Ben Hibbs

Ben Hibbs was born in Fontana and grew up in Pretty Prairie. He graduated from KU in 1923 and later founded the journalism department at Fort Hays State University. In 1942, he became editor of the Saturday Evening Post, where he worked for nearly 20 years. From 1962 to 1972, he was editor of Reader’s Digest.  Hibbs died in 1975.
