KPR's Kansas Trivia Question: Friday, November 7, 2014

Lake Quivira Gate
Lake Quivira Gate

Category: Living the Good Life

Q: Most of the residents who live in this Kansas community actually live inside a private, gated community WITHIN the city limits. This incorporated City of the 3rd Class has a little more than 900 residents. Can you name it?

==================================

A: Lake Quivira

The City of Lake Quivira is actually located in two Kansas counties, both Johnson and Wyandotte. In 1928, Lake Quivira Country Club was founded as a unique community in the suburbs of Kansas City. In 1966, Lake Quivira became a gated, private community and for the most part, it still is. However, Lake Quivira is also an incorporated City of the 3rd Class in Kansas. And while the city limits are slightly larger than the country club itself, most residents live next to the private lake and country club.

(Editor's Note: Thanks to Lake Quivira Mayor Wayne Hidalgo for help with this trivia question!)
