KPR Corporate Sponsor Profile: Manhattan Virtual Academy

Manhattan Virtual Academy provided this profile of their services.

Manhattan Virtual Academy is a program of Manhattan-Ogden USD383 School District and serves students grades 7-12 across Kansas.  Building on over ten years of virtual learning leadership in Kansas, Manhattan Virtual Academy has evolved from an online corporate-run school to a locally-designed, district-managed and fully-accredited virtual school. Manhattan Virtual Academy focuses not only on robust educational practices, but also on relationships fostered between students, families and teachers to help students achieve their educational goals.

“We saw the need to do things much better…we needed to put our students at the forefront of every decision we made so we could truly personalize their education.  In order to do this, we needed to have the ability to hire our own Kansas teachers, choose and design our own curriculum, and integrate best educational practices that are grounded in the high-quality Kansas education foundation we as parents and community members expect.”

Manhattan Virtual Academy has NCAA-approved core courses and is dedicated to providing students with a college and career pathway program that results in seamless transitions to post-secondary options and career opportunities. Manhattan Virtual Academy's Kansas-certified, highly-qualified teachers work to actively engage students and encourage lifelong learning strategies that lead to success.

The Virtual Academy serves a wide variety of students; including Kansas High School Rodeo Association competitors, students concentrating on dance, acting, and musical performance, regional wrestlers who compete internationally, and others that flourish under the flexibility that the MVA’s program offers. The school also provides students who have experienced bullying or extreme anxiety a safe place to learn with engaging instruction in a dynamic learning environment.
