Conversations: Mugambi Jouet, "Exceptional America"

How did Donald Trump follow Barack Obama in the White House? Why is America so polarized? And How does American exceptionalism explain these social changes? On this edition of Conversations, Mugambi Jouet and I talk about how his book, Exceptional America: What Divides Americans from the World and from Each Other, attempts to answer those questions. Jouet teaches at Stanford Law School. Among other places, his writing has been featured in Mother Jones, Slate, The New Republic, Salon, The Huffington Post, and Le Monde, in addition to academic journals.
