On this edition of Conversations, I talk with Michael Callahan about his latest novel, The Night She Won Miss America. Based on a true story, the novel centers around the 1950 Miss America pageant. When the winner abandons the pageant to escape with her boyfriend, they find themselves on the run from the police and a reporter. The resulting chase that takes them from the Atlantic City Boardwalk to the shadowy streets of Manhattan to a cliffside mansion in Newport. The story is a fast paced caper that blends aspects of romance and mystery. Michael Callahan is a contributing editor for Vanity Fair. His previous novel was Searching for Grace Kelly.
