KPR Set to Host 2nd Annual KPR Live Day October 18

On October 18, Kansas Public Radio will broadcast its 2nd Annual KPR Live Day, which is made possible by Kring’s Interiors, a partnership with the Lawrence Public Library, and support from listener members like you.

Ångström Brass Quintet led by Patrick Doyle of Kansas City will kick off the event at 9 a.m. in the KPR Live Performance Studio.

Plaza Winds (Quintet), led by Gözde Çakir of UMKC, will directly follow at 10 a.m. in the Lawrence Public Library atrium, which will be open to the public.

Performances will continue to alternate every hour between the KPR Live Performance Studio and the Lawrence Public Library atrium until the final performance at 2 p.m. featuring KU percussionist Mike Compitello.

Additional performers include Steven Spooner (piano), Larkin Sanders (recorder) with George Moss (lute), and Destiny Ann Mermagen (violin) with Thomas Rosenkranz (piano).

KPR’s Darrell Brogdon, Cordelia Brown and Marcia Higginson will host the live broadcast. Highlights from the event will re-broadcast from 7 to 9 p.m. on KPR or online at kansaspublicradio.org.
