Conversations

Conversations is sometimes serious and sometimes humorous, but always informative. Host Dan Skinner shares interviews with writers about recent works of fiction and non-fiction, featuring internationally known best-selling authors as well as new voices in literature. Conversations also shares updates on the area art scene through discussions about upcoming performances and exhibits. 

Conversations: John Hart, "The Hush"

John Hart is the author of five New York Times bestsellers. His past books include The King of Lies, Down River, The Last Child, Iron Horse, and Redemption Road. On this edition of Conversations, he discusses his latest novel, which returns to the world of The Last Child novel. This one is called The Hush, which is now available as an audio book. Although it revisits characters from a previous novel, it was written to stand alone.


Conversations: Lawrence Arts Center Update with Margaret Weisbrod Morris

On this edition of Conversations, we get an update on upcoming events at the Lawrence Arts Center from Margaret Weisbrod Morris, Chief Program Officer. We discuss the Benefit Art Auction, exhibits, and summer activities. More information is available on the Lawrence Art Center's website.

Shawn Askinosie left a successful 20-plus year career as a criminal defense lawyer to become the founder and CEO of Askinosie Chocolate in Missouri. He was named by O, The Oprah Magazine as one of “15 guys who are saving the world.” Their business model has been featured in New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, among other publications.

Conversations: Karen Gross, "Lady Lucy's Dragon Quest"

In this elementary school children's book, Lady Lucy's Dragon Quest, Lady Lucy overcomes gender discrimination and stereotypes to save the day by changing a fire breathing dragon into a water spouting dragon. On this edition of Conversations, Karen Gross joins us to talk about her series of books featuring Lady Lucy. Gross is an author, educator, and higher education consultant based in Washington, D.C.
