Conversations

Conversations is sometimes serious and sometimes humorous, but always informative. Host Dan Skinner shares interviews with writers about recent works of fiction and non-fiction, featuring internationally known best-selling authors as well as new voices in literature. Conversations also shares updates on the area art scene through discussions about upcoming performances and exhibits. 

Conversations: Chad Dundas, "The Blaze"

On this edition of Conversations, Chad Dundas talks with host Dan Skinner about his latest novel, The Blaze. Dundas is a novelist who has also worked as a sportswriter for national outlets including ESPN, NBC Sports, Sporting News, Bleacher Report and the Associated Press. His previous novel, Champion of the World was named one of the best books of 2016 by the Boston Globe.

On this edition of Conversations, Lily Zheng talks about The Ethical Sellout: Maintaining Your Integrity in the Age of Compromise. Zheng is an author, executive coach, and organizational consultant. She co-authored the book along with Inge Hansen.


Conversations: Melanie Joy, "Powerarchy: Understanding the Psychology of Oppression for Social Transformation"

On this edition of Conversations, Melanie Joy talks with host Dan Skinner about her latest book, Powerarchy: Understanding the Psychology of Oppression for Social Transformation. Joy is a psychologist and an international speaker. She is the author of four previous books and has been recognized for her work on global non-violence.


Conversations: Kiley Reid, "Such a Fun Age"

On this edition of Conversations, Kiley Reid talks with host Dan Skinner about her debut novel, Such a Fun Age. Reid is a recent graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where she was the recipient of the Truman Capote Fellowship. Her short stories have been featured and are forthcoming in Ploughshares, December, New South, and Lumina. Her novel has been optioned for adaptation to film.


Conversations: Phil Keith, "All Bood Runs Red: The Legendary Life of Eugene Bullard - Boxer, Pilot, Soldier, Spy"

On this edition of Conversations, Phil Keith talks with host Dan Skinner about All Blood Runs Red: The Legendary Life of Eugene Bullard – Boxer, Pilot, Soldier, Spy. Phil Keith is the author of six books and holds a degree in history from Harvard. He is also a former Navy aviator who served three tours in Vietnam, where he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Presidential Unit Citation, among other decorations.


Conversations: Kari O'Driscoll, "One Teenager at a Time: Developing Self-Awareness and Critical Thinking in Adolescents"

On this edition of Conversations, Kari O’Driscoll talks with host Dan Skinner about her book One Teenager at a Time: Developing Self-Awareness and Critical Thinking in Adolescents. O'Driscoll writes about social justice, parenting, mindfulness, food and her family (with their permission).

Conversations: Piet Knetsch, "Love, Anne" at Theatre Lawrence

On this edition of Conversations, Piet Knetsch talks with host Dan Skinner about the Theatre Lawrence production of "Yours, Anne." Knetsch directs the performance which opens on February 28 and runs through March 8. He also provides information about special events and a lobby exhibit related to the production.
